Unlock your Innate Beauty – Snails or snakes anyone?
I’ve trawled the web to bring you a few weird beauty treatments from around the world. So, in no particular order, which of these would you be up for trying?
CHILE: Snail Secretion Rejuvenator
In Chile you can have a facial using slimy snail secretion which apparently provides protection against pollution and ultraviolet radiation. We’re not sure if the snails actually are placed on your face or if they extract the secretions first. Either way, it’s a bit odd.
CHINA: 24-Karat Gold Facial
If you have $300 to spare you can get a solid-gold facial in China but you don’t get to keep the gold afterwards, and we’re not aware of any long-term anti-aging benefits from this!
US: Chocolate Fondue Wrap
Hershey, the US chocolate company now allows its products to be used in chocolate fondue body wraps which are considered to be anti-aging. Sorry, but I’d rather eat it.
MEXICO: Tequila Body Scrub with Cactus Massage
In Mexico, you can get ‘massaged’ with cactus (with the spines removed first I am guessing?) and scrubbed with salt, lime and tequila. Sounds painful and not all relaxing. I think a Margarita by the pool is more my thing. Can you see a theme building here?!
ISRAEL: Snake Therapy Massage
Yes, a spa in Israel offers a ‘soothing’ snake massage using live corn snakes, milk snakes and Florida king snakes. One word. Why?
JAPAN: Nightingale-Dropping Facial
A Japanese treatment now available worldwide. Apparently the droppings from nightingales remove dead skin when applied to the face. I wonder if the droppings from other birds have a similar affect or if its just nightingales? I’d also like to know who discovered this and how?
THE UK: ??
There area a whole host of proven treatments in the UK, and thankfully NOT involving so many (if any) animals or animal secretions!
