The causes of thin lips
What are thin lips?
The shape and size of your lips is something that is (mostly) out of your control – some of you will find that you have full lips, some will have round lips, heart-shaped or anything in between. Thin lips are simply lips that have a narrow and thin appearance. Recently, more and more people have started to want fuller lips, following in the footsteps of celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Olvia Wilde.
We think it is important to point out that there is nothing wrong with having thin lips – it is all down to personal preference and you should do whatever makes you happy – there are many people around the world who look beautiful with their natural lips. However, if you are unhappy with your lips and are looking for a way to enhance them, then a member of our team would be more than happy to help.
What causes thin lips?
Thin lips are caused by numerous factors that are largely out of your control. In most cases, thin lips are completely natural and are a result of your family history and genetics. However, in some cases, people with full lips may start to notice that these are losing some of their natural plumpness and becoming thinner.
If this is happening to you then there is usually no need to worry, for it is a common part of the natural ageing process. As your body’s production of collagen and elastin reduces, and your muscles tire, wrinkles, fine lines and facial change can start to become apparent.
How can thin lips be treated?
When it comes to treating thin lips, we want to help our clients achieve a natural look that they are proud of. If you have naturally thin lips, then we would recommend a treatment that looks to subtly and gently enhance your lips in stages. By adopting a gradual approach to treatment we can ensure that your lips will always be in proportion with the rest of your natural facial features – something which we think is essential.
If you would like to replicate lips from your younger years, then we ask that you bring in a photo of yourself from both five and ten years before so we can work our magic and turn back the clock!
How we can help
When it comes to treating thin lips, we usually recommend Lip Fillers as they allow our patients to achieve excellent results without needing to undergo invasive surgery or experience long periods of downtime. Small amounts of Dermal Filler will simply be injected into your lips and surrounding areas, providing you with a smoother and fuller appearance.
