What it’s really like to have a treatment at Appearance Based Medicine?!
Our clinic (finalists at the MyFaceMyBody Awards 2015) is located on the ground floor of Chilterns House, which can be found on Dean Street in Marlow. We have a dedicated clinical room within DentalCarePlus’ treatment centre, so you can be sure that our facilities are appropriate and immaculately clean – perfect for undergoing safe and effective non-surgical treatments. We are accredited by Save Face UK and Clare McLoughlin RGN INP (our Aesthetic Nurse Prescriber) is also a member of the Expert Advisory Board at Save Face UK.
There is some free parking available behind Chilterns House though there is also a larger public car-park opposite the building, should this be required (please note this is a pay-and-display car park). When you enter the facilities we share with DentalCarePlus, you will be greeted by helpful and friendly reception staff who will advise you to take a seat in our comfortable waiting area should you be a little early for your appointment!
If you have a bit of a medical phobia – a dislike of needles, medical equipment, the familiar ‘hospital’ smell, etc. – you will be pleasantly surprised when you enter our treatment room! It is cheerfully lit and comfortably appointed with a relaxing yet supportive treatment bed (and plenty of pillows, should these be required to get you into the most comfortable position for a treatment!). There are also some chairs so that we can have a one-to-one consultation with you prior to any treatment being carried out and take the time you need to understand a procedure and any potential side-effects associated with it. All of the equipment that we use is clean and appropriate for the treatments we carry out, and we use a range of innovative and proven technologies to ensure that you receive the very best treatment possible! We are extremely proud of our Stratum Skin Analysis Tool – a high quality photographic device that allows us to capture images of the skin using different light sources and clearly diagnose any obvious or underlying skin issues that you may have. We have also recently invested in a Dermalux LED Phototherapy machine, which allows us to effectively treat a range of skin conditions using completely non-invasive LED light technology.
Once you have had a chance to sit down and make yourself comfortable, Clare will take the time to find out about your medical history and clearly explain the treatment that you are interested in undertaking. For the vast majority of treatments, this initial consultation with Clare will be carried out prior to the date of your treatment, something that should give you the time you need to work out whether it is an appropriate procedure for you and allow you to mentally and physically prepare for the treatment.
When you choose to undergo a procedure with Appearance Based Medicine, you can rest assured that all of the products we use have been deemed appropriate for use in non-surgical cosmetic procedures. In addition to this, Clare will use the information you provided in your detailed medical history, and from an in-depth analysis of your skin (using the Stratum Skin Analysis Tool), to ensure that all the products that are used in the treatment are appropriate for your unique skincare requirements. This helps to significantly reduce the risk of potential allergic reactions to any of the products that we use.
Following a treatment, Clare will ensure that you are given detailed aftercare advice. This helps to ensure that any treatments carried out can be as effective as possible! In addition to this, Clare also ensures that all patients have her mobile telephone number so that they can contact her 24/7 in the unlikely event that there are any unexpected side-effects from the treatment.
