Question: I’ve seen you advertising ‘PDO Threadlift / Fine Thread Contouring’ (PDO/FTC) recently.  What kind of threads are used, and why do you insert them?

Clare’s Answer: The PDO Threadlift / Fine Thread Contouring uses Polydioxanone (PDO) Threads – a safe and absorbable material that is commonly used in medical suturing.

These threads are inserted into the skin using a small needle or cannula once a local anaesthetic has been applied to the treatment area.

The PDO threads work to lift and tighten areas of skin that have lost their elasticity and definition and have started to ‘sag’.

The carefully controlled damage to the skin caused by the insertion of the PDO threads helps to promote the production of new collagen in the treatment area, helping to improve the overall tone of the skin for many months after the threads have been absorbed.
