Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty… What exactly is it?

You may have heard about the Non-surgical nose job carried out live on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ recently.  Although some people were a little shocked to see it, I think that it’s great to see professional non-surgical aesthetic treatments carried out by highly qualified Doctors and Nurses in a sensitive and informative way on television, as it helps to build awareness of the range of treatments options out there for people who don’t want to undergo invasive surgical procedures.  It also helps to show potential patients what they can expect from a treatment, providing valuable information about what the procedure entails and any potential side-effects, etc.

For those of you who don’t know, a non-surgical Rhinoplasty treatment involves the contouring, reshaping, sculpturing and re-modelling of the nasal framework without surgery, using absorbable and safe Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers.  As with all treatments at Appearance Based Medicine, non-surgical Rhinoplasty treatments are only be carried out following a comprehensive one-to-one consultation with a patient.

If non-surgical Rhinoplasty is deemed an appropriate treatment option for a patient, and they decide to proceed with the procedure, injections are administered using a very fine, disposable needle, and the procedure usually takes around 45 minutes to complete.  The results from a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty are instant and the results from this kind of treatment tend to last from 12-18 months.

It’s important to remember that following any injectable treatment there can be minor redness, bruising or swelling at the injection site, though these issues are generally minimal after the administration of Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers to the nose.  With non-surgical Rhinoplasty treatments, we also make a specific recommendation for patients not to wear glasses for 24 hours’ post-treatment to ensure that the results are as effective as possible and to reduce the risk of potential side effects occurring.

With more and more aesthetic patients visiting discounted ‘practitioners’ they have found via voucher sites or online offers, I think that seeing an experienced and qualified professional carry out the procedure carefully on live television can help to give potential patients an idea of what to expect and what questions to ask before undergoing any treatment.  However, I would also strongly recommend visiting the Save Face website (http://www.saveface.co.uk/downloads/) to read some of their impartial information sheets and FAQs to ensure that you know as much as possible about any non-surgical treatment that you are considering undertaking.
