Although the end of August is fast approaching, there’s still plenty to be squeezed out of summer. And with autumn not set to join us until late next month, taking extra precautions in the warmer weather is still very much advised. To aid in such matters, I advise the use of either Heliocare sunscreen or Extreme Protect SPF 40 from iS CLINICAL, two fantastic products that will fit nicely within your existing skincare routine.
Why Use SPF?
As covered previously, the use of a high-quality SPF product is an absolutely essential part of any skincare routine. When applied every day, SPF offers valuable protection against the sun’s harmful rays. This type of product will ensure that skin damage is reduced and various signs of ageing, including fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, are kept at bay. SPF can also safeguard against sunburn and the development of skin cancer.
Different Strengths Of SPF Explained
It won’t have escaped your notice that there are many different strengths of SPF on the market. The numbers that follow this acronym, which stands for Sun Protection Factor, pertain to how long a certain product will provide you with protection from the sun. Using an SPF 30, for example, means that it should take you 30 times longer to burn than it would if you weren’t wearing any sunscreen.
Stronger variations of SPF, including factors 40 and 50, are available and should be worn by those who find themselves outside for long periods of time. SPF must be reapplied every two hours, particularly if you have been swimming or sweating. Most experts will also recommend choosing a broad-spectrum sunscreen, as this will shield you from both UVA and UVB radiation. UVA rays are responsible for tanning and accelerating the ageing process, whereas UVB rays are much more closely associated with sunburn and skin cancer.
Heliocare Sunscreen
As you may remember, I have spent the summer offering free samples of Heliocare sunscreen to patients who have visited me to receive treatment. Heliocare, who nabbed Topical Skin Product/Range Of The Year at The 2021 Aesthetics Awards, boast clinically recommended products designed to protect and hydrate skin of any type. Their products are notable for the inclusion of Fernblock®, a powerful natural ingredient that provides skin cells with effective sun protection and safeguards skin cell DNA.
Additionally, Heliocare sunscreens are rich in antioxidants and DNA repair enzymes, which can boost skin health and prevent future damage. Every item in the Heliocare range also combats both UVA and UVB radiation, so you can apply these products with the guarantee of all-encompassing protection.
