Fine lines and wrinkles appear on our faces as we age. Fine lines take the form of mild creases in the skin and usually indicate the beginning of your skin’s ageing process. Wrinkles, on the other hand, are fine lines that are deeper, more prominent and usually appear on the faces of older adults.
Ageing is, unfortunately, an inevitable process that is going to affect us all eventually. Most people report that they start to see the formation of fine lines and wrinkles at around the age of 25. However, there is no set time for this change, meaning it could also happen sooner or later.
If you look in the mirror most mornings wishing you could reclaim your long-lost youth, then you’re in the right place. Although the formation of fine lines and wrinkles is an inevitable process, it can be delayed and reduced with the right strategies.
Fine lines and wrinkles form as a result of the continual and often involuntary movements of the face. Every day your face makes countless expressions, from smiling and squinting to frowning and yawning. To create these expressions we need to move our face in certain ways. This is something that we don’t even think about. Over time, these movements will cause creases or folds to appear on the surface of your skin. These will then start to become fine lines and wrinkles as your skin ages.
In your younger years, you’ll find that your skin is able to bounce back from these positions unaffected. This is primarily due to the amount of collagen and elastin it contains. Unfortunately, as we age, our body produces less of these fibres and this makes our skin unable to bounce back in the same way it once did.
Appropriate Treatments
A cosmetic injectable treatment that can temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other facial imperfections, resulting in a smoother, more youthful-looking complexion.
An anti-ageing injectable treatment that boosts skin hydration at a deep level in order to rejuvenate ageing, lacklustre skin from within.
Dermal Fillers are used to replace volume in areas where the skin has lost its fullness and elasticity. This happens naturally over time, due to the ageing process and the body’s reduced production of collagen and elastin.
A non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that can improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and stimulate collagen production, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.
A skin rejuvenation treatment that can improve skin hydration, firmness, and elasticity, reducing the signs of aging and leaving the skin looking more youthful.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both of these injectables are great options for anyone wanting to achieve a more youthful and clear complexion! However, the primary difference is that Botox® relaxes muscles to smooth out skin and stop creases and wrinkles forming. Dermal Fillers utilise hyaluronic acid to fill in or add volume to a specific area of the skin.
The effects of Botox® usually last around three to four months , however, this can vary from case to case. Dermal Fillers, on the other hand, have the advantage of lasting between six to eighteen months, though this will also vary depending on the individual.
Botox® and Dermal Fillers are both widely used and safe forms of treatment when performed by an experienced medical professional. There are very few risks or side effects attached to the treatment, however, it is possible that the area of skin around the injection site will become bruised or irritated. In rare cases, patients report suffering from a temporary headache or flu-like symptoms.
All potential side effects will be covered in detail with you during your consultation and are also detailed in the written treatment information that will be provided to you as part of your treatment journey.
We ask every patient new and old to join us for a complimentary consultation prior to any form of treatment. These sessions allow us to assess your medical history to ensure no unforeseen complications arise during treatment. They also allow us to get a better understanding of your goals and answer any questions that you may have.
Unfortunately, if you are breastfeeding or pregnant then you will be unable to join us for either Botox® or Dermal Fillers.
