New Year’s Resolutions!
Have you over-indulged!!?
It’s getting to that time of year when many of us begin to regret our over-indulgence over the festive period (although who doesn’t love mulled wine and mince pies? Admittedly, twice a day every day from mid-November to New Year’s Day may be taking it a step too far…), and start thinking about the promise and adventure that the New Year can bring.
New Year’s Resolutions
Some of us will start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions, but how useful are these resolutions in making us happier and healthier the following year?
Research carried out a few years ago by thinkmoney.co.uk found that over half of the adults in the UK – around 14.5 million people – make a New Year’s Resolution, but that by the end of New Year’s Day, over 2% have already given up! Nearly one in three of us make a resolution to lose weight in the New Year, and one in five of us resolve to exercise more and improve our fitness levels. But how many of us actually achieve our goals? And is there anything we can do to make it easier to stick with our goals? We’ve collected a few hints and tips for people who have a health and beauty resolution planned for 2016 – hopefully these can help!
Hints & Tips for your Health & Beauty Resolutions …
- Make your Resolution realistic – no matter what you do, unless you are 18, you are never again going to have the body and skin of an 18-year-old. Exercise and a sensible diet may help you to reach the dress size you were when you were 18, but be aware that your body changes as you age. A resolution like ‘I want to maintain a healthy weight’ or ‘I want my body to be more toned’ will be more realistic to achieve, and give you a single goal to focus on.
- Try and make one small change to each day – like drinking a pint of water in the morning when you get up. If you build this small change into your routine every day, it will soon become second nature. Few people realise the benefits that adequate hydration can have for your body and skin, so even a simple resolution like this can have a positive impact on your 2016! If you like this idea but want to see more dramatic results, why not try a product like Skinade, a ‘beauty-boosting’ drink that contains 7000 mg of Hydrolysed Marine Collagen per serving, and which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and promote healthier, younger-looking and even toned skin in as little as 20 days? It’s a simple and manageable change that could help you achieve visible results in 2016!
- Know that change doesn’t have to cost the earth! – Come the 1st January 2016, there will be advertising billboards everywhere for local gyms and sports centres, tempting you in with ‘free sign up’ and then locking you into a 12 month contract when the likelihood is, for the majority of people, if you didn’t go to the gym in 2015, you aren’t going to go regularly in 2016! Exercise doesn’t have to involve the gym though – it doesn’t even have to involve sportswear if you don’t want it to! Something as simple as going out for a brisk 30-minute walk, 4 or 5 times a week can really help to improve your fitness levels. You could even squeeze it into your lunch break! Regular light exercise is a great way of improving not only your physical health, but also your mental health, so if you have been feeling a little stressed or low in 2015, it could really help you to have a happier 2016!
- Seek help if you need it – If you want to make a change to the way you look in 2016, whether that is through exercise, ‘at home’ cosmetic lotions and potions, or with the help of non-surgical cosmetic surgery, why not speak to someone first? Your G.P. should be able to provide you with information about what kinds of exercise are appropriate for you, particularly if you have an existing medical condition. Likewise, Aesthetic Practitioners should be able to give you information about what Skincare treatments are appropriate for you, and will give you the kind of results that you are looking for.
