Why should I have this treatment?

Dermalux™ LED Light Therapy is completely non-invasive, you just need to lie back and relax and let the Light Emitting Diodes do their job! Treatments usually last for 20 to 30 minutes and the visible effects are often immediate; Dermalux™ can instantly revive a tired and dull complexion, and after just one treatment redness and irritation are noticeably reduced.

How do I know if this treatment is safe and right for me?

At Appearance Based Medicine Ltd., Clare McLoughlin RGN INP will only prescribe a non-surgical aesthetic treatment following a detailed one-to-one consultation with a patient, enabling her to accurately assess whether a treatment is an appropriate treatment option given a patient’s unique medical history, skin condition and expectations.

When you make an appointment for a Dermalux™ LED Phototherapy session at Appearance Based Medicine, Clare McLoughlin RGN INP will first evaluate your unique skin needs, and then use this information to decide what combination of LED Treatments will be most beneficial to you (Red, Near Infra-Red and Blue, or a combination of all three), ensuring that you receive a tailored and effective treatment.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a completely non-invasive treatment, with no reported side-effects when it is used under the supervision of a trained medical aesthetic practitioner.

How does this treatment work?

UV-free phototherapy has been used for decades in the management of common skin disorders including eczema and psoriasis, and Dermalux LED Phototherapy treatment builds on this knowledge and experience and harnesses the power of 3 different light waves (Red, Near Infra Red and Blue Light), each of which has very specific skin healing properties:

Dermalux LED Red Light helps to increase hydration and stimulate circulation in the skin. It does this by ‘recharging the cell batteries’ (mitochondria) so effectively works to give tired skin a boost, increasing hydration, which in turn reduces fine lines.

Dermalux LED Blue Light has an anti-bacterial action which can be extremely effective in treating Acne and helping to prevent further breakouts without irritating the skin.

Dermalux™ LED Near Infra-Red Light is the most deeply absorbed wavelength by the skin and works effectively with Red Light to help promote the production of collagen, elastin and other growth factors in the skin to help counteract the visible signs of ageing and skin damage – making it a great treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. Near Infra-Red Light also has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin, helping to soothe irritated skin conditions.

The combination of Red and near Infra-Red light is an effective treatment for Rosacea, and highlights the way that the different light waves can be used individually, or in combination with other light waves, to treat a variety of different skin issues.
