Before meeting Clare McLoughlin, Appearance Based Medicine’s nurse practioner, I had not really thought about anti-ageing treatments or skincare beyond my daily moisturiser.

I was keen to come to Clare’s launch of her new Marlow clinic as I was interested in seeing and learning about the non-surgical cosmetic treatments she offers and with 14 years in the industry she has brought together a whole array of proven products.

She was also demonstrating dermafillers and wrinkle-relaxers (known as Botox or Bocouture to you and me) and this had always intrigued me. What I didn’t know was that these treatments aren’t always carried out by Prescribing Drs and Nurses which is a worry…so it is reassuring to know that Clare is qualified to actually prescribe the injections as well as apply them.

Fabulous demos

Along with Clare’s demos which also included the Perfect Peel which rejuvenates your skin by removing all the dull and dead layers giving you a healthy glow, we had the pleasure of watching Karen Xavier from Your Shopping Friend show us the effects of wearing the right colour for your skin tone.

Everyone wanted their colours done because we could see immediately the impact of wearing the right and wrong colours next to your face!

Demos were also carried out by Agostina Murgia from Skinade – a new drink ‘born’ in the UK which delivers key vitamins, minerals and collagen to your skin to keep it hydrated and looking amazing. And it costs less than a cup of coffee each day, so you can’t go wrong. Oh and it tastes delicious too. Bonus!

There were also skin analyses carried out by Katie Hanson using iSClinical Skincare products and a jewellery, bag and scarf stall. Add some bubbly and canapes to the mix and it was a very successful AND enjoyable evening.

What an eye opener (in more ways than one!)

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the treatment demos, but I do know that I wasn’t expecting to see immediate changes. But I did. Most of the results of the treatments develop after a day or two but we could all see the difference on the model’s face after just a few minutes.

There are treatments to help provide natural-looking improvements including opening up the eyes for a younger look, improving the look of crow’s feet, removing frown lines and much more.

However, Clare is fastidious about holding a free 30 minute consultation meeting before agreeing to or carrying out any treatment plan.

She explained that there are many products and treatments which can be used by themselves or together and it’s important to choose the right ones for each individual. Sometimes a patch test is needed first.
