The Fire and Ice Medical facial is a two stage treatment – the ‘Fire’ treatment masque is applied first, followed by the ‘Ice’ part of the procedure, a cooling, soothing, and intensively hydrating masque. The ‘Fire’ part of the facial is an intensive resurfacing masque, containing 18% glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, malic acid, retinol, vitamin B3 and various antioxidants. There are a number of benefits to the Fire and Ice Medical Facial over more invasive skin peel procedures – for example, it is suitable for all skin types, and there is little to no downtime following the treatment. As with all non-surgical cosmetic treatments, there is a small risk of experiencing generally mild side effects during and post-treatment: skin tends to feel tight and firm after the procedure has been carried out, and mild redness may occur on the treated skin. Some patients also experience the sensation of heat and tingling whilst the masque is in contact with their skin, and immediately after it has been removed.

In terms of the aftercare instructions for the Fire and Ice Medical facial, we clearly express to the patient that certain things should be avoided in the days and weeks following the treatment in order to protect the skin and increase the efficacy of the treatment – recommendations such as avoiding activities that cause perspiration for the 12 hours following a treatment (as this can increase the likelihood of deep penetrating ingredients to be secreted out of the pores, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment), and wearing a SPF 50 every day for the 4 weeks following a Fire and Ice Medical Facial.
